Hi, friends and welcome to Week 3 of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge! This past week was a big week for changes! We emptied the room to prepare for 2 new features to be installed. Here is the NYNR Week 3 Update // New Flooring & a Murphy Bed!
Yes, both were installed!
So while I don’t have many pictures to ooh and ahh over, so much progress took place!
And with a one month challenge, every week and weekend counts!
You can see my week 1 upate here with the Before photos and gameplan. And last week, I shared my design board for the space. To see all of my NYNR Challenge posts over the years, click here.
We have several participants joining this January, so be sure to check out their week 3 progress updates at the end of this post!
NYNR Week 3 Update // New Flooring & a Murphy Bed!
When I found out the plan was for the Murphy bed to be taken down at my Grandpa’s house and installed at mine over the weekend, I made a fast & furious decision to put new flooring in. We’ve wanted to rip the carpet out of all of the bedrooms [ours is the only one with tile intead of carpet] since we moved in, but never had a driving force to get it done until now.
So I called my contractor on a Tuesday and asked if he had availability to install LVP in a small bedroom sometime before the weekend and he said, “Yes, how about Friday?”
Off to Home Depot we went to pick out the flooring to have it ready to be installed at the end of the week. I wanted to go with something light and honestly, anything would have been better than the old carpet, but we landed on this product.
We needed about 150 sq. ft. so we purchased 10 boxes of the King’s Cottage Oak from Home Decorator’s Collection for the small space.
Out with the old and in with the new!
It took part of Friday and Saturday to finish installing the floor and wow, what a difference!
I’m loving the light and airy feel in here now, so will just have a small area rug to soften up the floor a bit.
You can shop the flooring here.
By Monday, my Dad, two uncles and T were ready to put the bed in. It only took a couple of them to take it down, but the front piece was pretty heavy and did require all 4 to lift.
A couple hours and a small break later, the bed was in!
The Murphy bed was in great shape and looked like it was hardly used – basically a brand new mattress with it! My grandpa gave it to us so we have him to thank for it!
Now, to get my desk and a few new pieces moved in and we’ll be all set.
I’m so looking forward to having the wide open floor space in here now that the Queen guest bed is out! We will be moving that into the Littlest’s Big Boy Room since he has a full-sized bed currently.
Here is a peek at our progress overall…
