Hello and welcome! Today I’m sharing a peek inside our home all dressed up for Christmas! While this year has felt different in so many ways, there’s one thing that I wanted to make sure we all felt this season – the joy of the Christmas spirit in our home. The 5 of us have been home together 9 months and counting now, so while I haven’t decked every corner of every room, the trees are up and the lights are twinkling! With plenty of Christmas music and movies playing in the background! Come see a few snapshots in today’s Classic Christmas Home Tour.
I’ve joined Krista of The Happy Housie and a group of other bloggers this week as we all share our Holiday homes as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series, so be sure to stick around to the end to see their incredible spaces!
If you’re stopping over from All Things With Purpose, hi and hello! I’m so happy to have you here today! I’m a boy mom of 3 living with my husband and crew in the northern Chicago suburbs. Come on in and see our home decked and ready for the holidays!

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS HOME 2020
I’m a lover of neutrals, pattern mixing and warm metallics, but something about this year made me want to pull out all the red and sprinkle some classic Christmas touches throughout the house.
I felt the urge to bring back some of the traditional Christmas décor I’ve been holding onto, but has been tucked away at the bottom of my bins for years.
Oh, the bins! I think the Christmas decorating process took an extra 3 weeks [not kidding] this year because I had lots of helpers! Also, because I was dreading bringing the bins up to add to the crazy in the first place!!
My 8 and 6 year-old have been eLearning all year and we’ve had a 2 year old running wild all day, so there were lots of little hands digging in the décor and trimming the tree. But we chipped away little by little and we did it!
Of course my littlest drummer boy helped the most because he is my all-day, everyday sidekick while his big brothers are at their desks.
THE FAMILY ROOM TREE
On the Family Room tree, I was planning to go all neutral like I did last year when we got the flocked tree, but after my middle started hanging red ornaments on the tree after school one day, I saw how gorgeous the bold red color really popped on the white tree.
So, I went all in! I dug out my red and gold poinsettia picks and layered silver, gold, copper, black and white ornaments with the red.
My favorites are the glittery white feather picks and the metallic silver drapey picks [such a technical term ;)]. They add so much depth and dimension to the tree and I love the contrast against the dark accent wall.
THE MANTEL
On the our mantel, I even pulled out our family’s first stockings to hang up. After doing so, I realized our 3rd little guy didn’t have one of this style, so I stuck a faux fur stocking in the center and am just thankful he’s too young to realize his name isn’t on it!
Of course, the older boys pointed it out, so next year I’ll be on a mission to get our family matching embroidered stockings 😉
I went simple and traditional on top of the mantel with fresh garland, brass candlestick holders [with these fabulous flameless flickering LED candles] and twinkle lights. All of the classic feels with this set-up.
You can see the rest of the Simple Red, White and Gold Christmas Mantel here.
The fairy lights, the flickering flames, the warm fireplace and the pinky red glow of the tree at night is our view when we’re snuggled up watching Christmas movies! And I’ll admit, this will probably be the very last spot I take down after Christmas. We just love it so much!
THE BOOKCASE & END TABLE
I popped a wreath on the front of the bookcase with a command hook and set a few trees down on the shelves. The clay Santa my Dad made me years ago stays out year-round, so he was all ready to go!
The only other nook I added a touch of Christmas to was the end table. A couple of glitzy trees behind my new acrylic piece and that was it! I love that this decorative item feels fresh and new in here, but can be used year-round.
KITCHEN
As for the kitchen, the only Christmas treatment it received was a couple of plaid dishtowels, a candy bowl and a Cinnamon Apple candle. And truthfully, the kitchen was never “photo-ready” so here is a the only shot I could get! Life around here is pretty crazy and messy these days, but #2020, so I’m just doing my best to roll with it!
DINING ROOM
I shared our Christmas Dining Room last week and although I did end up sticking with neutrals and metallics in here, it does feel classic.
Warm lights, more brass candlesticks, simple white roses, lots of greenery and simple white dishes. I’ll be hosting my parents this year, so this room is set and ready for Christmas dinner!
I love the glow of the lights on the bar cart next to the metallic trees and wine glasses.

STAIRCASE
And as we make our way back to the front of the house, here is a glimpse at our staircase. Adding the garland with satin ribbon bows truly makes our entire entryway feel so Christmas-y.
You can check out this post here with all the details on how I hung the garland on the staircase and what I used!
ENTRYWAY TABLE
The last little nook that was visited by the Christmas fairy this year is our Entryway table.
I draped a garland across a couple of frames, added a few bottle brush trees on my stack of books and sprinkled a few ornaments out in front for a classic pop of red.
Everything else stayed the same! Even the plaid blanket draped over the basket got to stay in place from when I decorated this table for Fall!
That brings us to the end of our tour today! Thank you so much for coming inside to see our Classic Christmas home. We are home for the holidays and I truly wouldn’t want it any other way this year!
