I used to love throwing themed birthday parties for the boys and would always share a party recap here on the blog. Detailing out the DIY decor, sources and links for things I bought, food we served and more. On my 35th birthday, T threw me a surprise party and decided to do a recap to share some snapshots. And every birthday since, I’ve ended up sharing a few photos and what I did to celebrate. Since my birthday was last week, the annual post continues. Here is #thisis38 // Birthday Week Recap.

It’s so fun to look back at pictures of my boys surrounding me and my cake helping me blow out candles, or their handmade cards or that one year they decorated the house for me. I also love looking back at pictures of birthday dinners out with my parents for a delicious meal.
Life is short and tomorrow is not promised, so celebrating another year surrounded by loved ones fills my cup over and over.
Here are some moments from my 38th birthday week!
#thisis38 // Birthday Week Recap
I celebrated my 38th birthday on the 15th and being an “almost Valentine’s baby” the flowers and goodies come back-to-back! I was spoiled with Starbucks 2 mornings in a row, surprise deliveries, a special sushi lunch set-up at home by T, family bowling, takeout for dinner, cake and lots of snuggles with my boys.

They actually had early release for conferences so we decided to go bowling to break up the afternoon and do something fun to celebrate. My parents joined us and then we headed back to our house for dinner & cake.
You’ll always be able to curb your sweet tooth craving with the number of treats we have around this house from Valentine’s Day & my birthday combined!
A SURPRISE CELEBRATION
And just when I thought the celebrations were over, the 5 of us settled in for a quiet family night at home. We had dinner and then in the middle of a round of “Heads Up” 5 girlfriends walked in with wine, rose, the cutest charcuterie board, flowers and gifts!
How cute is this “38” board they made? It was literally ADORABLE?!
T had coordinated with them to surprise me with a girls’ night in. When I first saw them, my first thought was “Oh No! They’re dragging me out for the night!” Thankfully my sweatpants, braless, fresh face was perfectly acceptable for my kitchen ha!
One friend left before the obligatory group photo, so I subtly added her to the top HA!
I feel especially grateful this year to have made some new friends to help me celebrate. Moving across the country and leaving your people is extremely difficult as an adult, but making new connections and finding girls you just *click with* is pretty incredible.
AND THEN THERE WERE TWO
T and I decided to head to dinner to celebrate since we stayed in with the boys on Valentine’s Day and my parents came over for dinner in on my actual birthday.
Martinis, a yummy dinner and time to catch up without the kids was just what we needed after our long Saturday sports circuit!
It’s always so wonderful to hear from friends near and far and I’m extremely grateful to be able to celebrate another year on this earth. After losing a close family friend earlier this month, I’m trying to take in the positivity and opportunities each day presents because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to add some extra light and love to my day and week!
Cheers to another trip around the sun 😉
