Let’s do this holiday decorating thing the easy way.

I am not going to pretend that hauling Christmas decorations out of storage – box by box, putting together the tree(s) or going to pick one out, then trimming the tree, and spreading holiday cheer throughout the house is always easy. It can actually be quite a process. For some, its done all in one day and for others, its spread out over several days or maybe even an entire week or more, but I’m going to show you a few ways to add a little extra holiday pizzazz to your home using your normal everyday decor.
We’re just going to spice it up a bit by making it fun & festive and nearly, free! This holiday season, I am going to share several ideas for ways to add simple touches to various spaces in your home – whether it be a table, wall or bookshelf.
First up today, is your coffee table!
Whether you have a fully styled coffee table like in our formal living room or a stack of coffee-stained magazines and a couple of peanut butter smeared remotes like our family room coffee table, this quick and easy idea is for EVERYONE!
Supplies:
Basic gift wrapping supplies – 3 rolls of various wrapping paper, tape, scissors & ribbon
coffee table books (2)
old magazines (3)
random book (1)
First, I started with the 2 coffee table books normally in the tray on the table and then rounded up a stack of 3 magazines and a smaller book from the bookcase shelf. I wanted to have some added height and varying thicknesses and widths, so I wrapped the 3 magazines by stacking them on top of each other and wrapping them up like a present. Then I wrapped the individual book by itself and lastly, the two coffee table books. I decided to add a piece of leopard ribbon to the top “package” to add a bit more pattern play to the stack. I just couldn’t resist that plaid & animal print combo 😉 A simple Christmas touch to an ordinary table! The best part? It was almost free! I mean, i just rounded up my supplies from things I already had. Another example of shopping the house at its finest! It also helped me check out my wrapping supplies ahead of time, so I know if I need to keep picking up those lovely papers every time I see them!
