The Friday Five

After 10 weeks of repeated Ground Hog’s Day and the school year starting to wind down, I’m happy to report that Week 10 of social distancing was probably the most exciting of all! We celebrated Simon’s 6th birthday and it was definitely the highlight of the week and probably of the entire shelter-in-place time so far! We’ve all adjusted to the new normal of a slower paced life, so celebrating a birthday “quarantine style” was quite a change of pace! phew! Now that we’ve made it through the birthday week, I’m ready to kick back for the weekend! Today, I’m here with The Friday Five, so come get comfy and see what random tidbits I have to share with you!

THE FRIDAY FIVE

ONE || EASY PIECE TO DRESS UP WITH POST-QUARANTINE

Gosh, it felt good to put a skirt on! I thought it would be fun to switch things up and step out of my loungewear and slip into something a bit dressier. I ordered this skirt months ago [long before social distancing began] and recently ran across it in my closet.

Its one of those simple satin midi skirts you can dress up or down and its only $20!

Date Night, here I come! One of these days soon, I hope.  It has an elastic waistband in back and a side zipper. I love where midi skirts hit on the leg [I’m 5’4″ for reference] and am wearing a size 4/6.

TWO || A WHOLE NEW MORNING EXPERIENCE [FRENCH PRESS]

I didn’t know what I was missing out on all of my coffee-drinking years!! Am I the only one who had never used a French Press to make their morning cup?

seriously life changing.

T bought me a French Press for Mother’s Day and I didn’t even know I wanted one! I think he secretly wanted to try it 😉

Either way, I’m sure glad he did because we’ve both been enjoying it.

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a French Press, but I didn’t fully understand the concept.

We’ve used our Keurig machine for as long as I can remember and while I love the convenience of it, there’s something so deliciously wonderful about a cup of french pressed coffee. It’s rich, thick and smooth and my go-to creamer tastes even better in it!

Sugar Free French Vanilla Coffee Mate that I’m now cutting with Almond Coconut Milk from Trader Joe’s [see all my favorites here], Oatmilk or regular Almond milk.

THREE || DRIVE-BY BIRTHDAY PARADE

Our middle man turned 6 on the 20th and it was certainly an unforgettable birthday for us all.

While we’ve participated in several birthday parades for other friends and neighbors, I didn’t know just how crazy, beautiful and incredibly emotional it would be.

Simon had the time of his life! Grinning from ear-to-ear with each car that came cruising by – horns, music, confetti, balloons, water guns, candy and more.

With a fire truck and ambulance leading the charge!

I’ll write up a post to share with more snapshots of his special day and with links and sources for everything we bought and used to celebrate quarantine-style!

FOUR || FITBIT VERSA

You saw this in my Amazon Fitness Finds post, but wanted to highlight it in today’s post, too! 

This thing has also been such a game=changer in my day-to-day. I’ve always loved tracking my steps on a Fitbit, but this new Versa has so many amazing capabilities and looks so similar to an Apple watch, but with a lower price tag.

I love the display screen, the ease of toggling screens and the apps I’ve loaded and used so far are pretty awesome.

I’ve got my starbucks card linked, Amazon Alexa, Maps and the weather just to name a few. Incoming calls, text messages and calendar alerts are also so helpful!

Would you be interested in a review post? I’m thinking about writing one to share all the ins and outs of it as I discover more!

Also, I can’t wait to switch out the band to something fun, but the blush pink band and rose gold face trim are very pretty as is!
