There is one [actually two] large room projects going on right now since I’m participating in the One Room Challenge, but there are also several small ones going on behind the scenes, too! I have my desk & computer set up in the Guestroom so it serves a dual purpose as my Office. We’ve had a few guests already so I worked to get the “guest” part of the room ready for them! I thought it would be fun to show you what the space looks like today after 3.5 months in the house. Today I’m sharing a Guestroom / Office Progress Update.
*This post is sponsored by Mohawk Home, but all thoughts, opinions and photography are my own. A huge thank you to them for helping me get this room “guest-ready” this Fall! Thank you for supporting the brands that help make This is our Bliss possible.

GUESTROOM / OFFICE PROGRESS UPDATE
My apologies for not sharing a moodboard or design for this space in advance. I just sort of started with what I had, added a few new pieces and this is where we landed! Before I show you what the room looks like currently, here are a few shots of when we first moved in.
We’ve had a shared guest bedroom + office before, so setting the space up to serve 2 functions again made the most sense. Ted has a dedicated office here in this house and each boy has their own room in addition to the Primary bedroom. This room is on the smaller side, but it has a walk-in closet which is perfect for housing my decorating stash, craft supplies and double hanging rods for try-ons and our guest’s clothes, too.
Our bed situation was a little bit of a game of Dominos in the new house. We sold Winston’s crib from his Nursery before we moved, so shifted him to Henry’s full-size bed once we got here. We moved Henry into the Queen bed from the old Guestroom and then bought a new [Queen bed] for the new Guestroom.
Simon always had a queen-sized bed in his bedroom so he was in good shape!
After the bed went in, we moved in my desk + computer & printer equipment, desk lamp & a few old pillows. My dad and I also hung the large black & gold art piece over the bed. You may remember it from the $100 Challenge Basement Guestroom Reveal!
Next on the list was a nightstand, rug, table lamp & window treatments.
I found a gorgeous lamp with a USB outlet at HomeGoods, along with a small bedside table & this pretty tasseled lumbar pillow for the bed.
The only missing piece was a nice plush rug!
My friends at Mohawk came to the rescue. They sent me this gorgeous and extremely soft 8′ x 10′ rug for the space and it looks absolutely perfect in here! It feels amazing underneath your feet, which is exactly what I wanted our guests to feel when they stepped out of bed in the morning. Not to mention, I work in here everyday and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the new rug too 😉
The color palette is neutral, but not too light. The rug has amazing texture and flecks of a beigey taupe throughout which helps hide the dirt!
I love the simple wavy pattern paired with the other prints in the room. They complement each other so nicely.
We plan to remove the carpet and put in new flooring, but the rug covers the majority of the carpet anyways, so it bought us a little more time!
I still need to style my desk & hang more art before I share the other side of the room, but I thought I’d share what’s been tackled so far. I also bought curtain panels & a rod, so hopefully I can get them hung sometime soon. Tackling that closet is also on my to-do list. I want to get in there soon since my wrapping supplies are stored in there. And we all know what’s right around the corner!
A big thank you to the team at Mohawk Home for providing me with such a beautiful rug. I’ve linked more of my favorites below in case you’re looking to get “guest-ready” before the holidays yourself!
Have a wonderful day!

October 27, 2021 at 6:25 PMLooks beautiful! I love the piece above the bed and the rug. I guess I’ve been living under a rock as I was unaware of the USB plug-in on lamps! 😂 Can’t wait to see the reveal.
