New Kitchen Lights // ORC Week 5 Update

Week 5?!? It is so wild to me that we’ve passed the halfway mark on the Fall 2021 One Room Challenge! Most of the large components have been installed so I’ll be taking the last few weeks to style and accessorize the space before I photograph for the Reveal. Other than the cabinet + built-in painting, the new lighting install was the most dramatic change to take place in here! Come see the New Kitchen Lights in today’s ORC Week 5 Update!

NEW KITCHEN LIGHTING

If you’ve followed me for awhile then you know how much I love to add bold statement lighting throughout our home. I tend to gravitate toward black or gold light fixtures and have been lucky enough to combine both finishes in some of our past lighting selections. 

When I first learned I’d have the opportunity to partner with Hudson Valley Lighting again, I was completely over the moon. They supplied the vanity light in our Small Boy’s Bathroom update, so could not wait to begin scouring their site for kitchen light fixtures. HVL & their family of brands carry some of the most gorgeous lights around!

We installed a large chandelier over our kitchen table and 2 pendants to replace the ones over the island.

STATEMENT CHANDELIER OVER THE KITCHEN TABLE

The old fixture was in good shape, but I wanted a different style. I wanted to add a funky, more edgy light to make it interesting in here. A conversation starter, if you will.

This 9 light chandelier did just the trick. The majority of the light is black, with gold leaf on the inside surrounding the bulbs. The light actually reflects off the gold leaf on both sides of the open tube.

When turned on, this chandelier is absolutely stunning! 

2 CHIC GLASS & GOLD PENDANTS OVER THE KITCHEN ISLAND

As for the island pendants, they were actually very pretty [also glass & brass], but a bit too small for the look I was going for. 

The new ones are almost double the size! They have a glass dome with a gold mesh tube surrounding the bulb.

The pendants are equally as pretty off as they are when the lights are on.

If you remember the pendants in our last kitchen, the were a very large, bold black drum shade pendant, so I wanted something more light & airy here. Especially since we went black with the island and Family Room built-ins.

As you know, I’m also refreshing the Family room side of the space, but the ceiling fan in there didn’t need to be replaced. It is already black, sleek & modern so the kitchen was the only area where the lighting needed to be updated.
