The Friday Five

Hello, hello out there! We are already more than three weeks into our [short] Summer here in Arizona. Although we’ve started out pretty mild, temperature-wise, we know it’s going to be heating up soon and will stay that way through October! The pool is in daily and nightly use around here and we’re loving it! I’m here today with The Friday Five, so let’s hang out!

THE FRIDAY FIVE

ONE // SUMMER SWEATER SEASON

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I’ve been repeatedly sharing this darling short-sleeved Summer sweater lately.

I have the pink version in a size small and have paired it with those fun hot pink cropped jeans as well as white denim, too.

It’s a classic sweater and I love the cap sleeves. I also want the white [great for a white-on-white look] and rust option since I can pretty much wear this year-round here!

TWO // ATTEMPTING TO KEEP THESE PLANTERS ALIVE

These awesome tall planters I found at HomeGoods for $39 last year [and I just found them in stock here!] have sat empty in our driveway since then. I did have some succulent-type plants in them for a short while, but when they didn’t make it, I never replaced them with anything.

I really, really miss planting flowers each Spring and filling the front porch with pots and planters galore. You can see all of my past front porch decorating tips & ideas here. T and I would typically go out each Mother’s Day weekend to pick them out and then we’d plant them together.

I’ve been intimidated to try to find drought-resistant, full-sun flowers to plant as I’m worried I won’t be able to keep them alive very long. I finally took the leap last weekend and bought some Vincas and sweet potato vines to try and give it a go.

I’m watering them each day and so far they still look great! We are heading out for a couple of weeks this Summer, so am looking into some self-watering devices to help on the off days when someone is here helping check on the house.

I’ll keep you posted. If all else fails, I can always put a cactus in each one and call it a day!

THREE // TRADER JOE’S FIND: SOYAKI

Current favorite marinade! Have you tried the Soyaki sauce from Trader Joe’s? It’s delicious on chicken and veggies! It’s sort of a cross between soy sauce & teriyaki sauce, and it’s so good!

I made a stir-fry the other night and actually combined these 2 above [maybe a 1/4 cup of each] to cook some chicken meatballs in. Oh yum, were they good!!

FOUR // FRESH & FUN BIG BOY ROOM REVEAL

Did you catch the Big Boy Room Reveal at the end of last month?! I wrapped up the Spring One Room Challenge and shared how our littlest’s guys new digs turned out. He is thrilled with his new space which makes it all worth it!
