Cheers to the weekend! I’m fully tapped out after this week of Halloween, so other than our weekend sports, I hope to just relax a little bit! I thought I would pop in with a new Friday Five today and touch on a few odds and ends around here. So here is The Friday Five!
If you’ve missed any past posts in the Friday Five series you can get caught up here.
THE FRIDAY FIVE
ONE // HALLOWEEN 2023
Our Halloween Crew 2023!
After school on Halloween, we finished carving pumpkins, got changed into costumes, took our family pics and then the night began! It was a Halloween of firsts this year.
The biggest went to a friend’s neighborhood to trick-or-treat, the middle started out with us but then took off with buddies on their own. So we were down to just one!
I sometimes struggle with change, so it didn’t surprise me when I got a little teary-eyed holding just one little one’s hand walking down the sidewalk.
On the plus side, he tired out after an hour, so back home we went to have white chicken chili, watch the World Series and pass out candy!
I also enjoyed a glass of wine with my mom who was here passing out candy while we were out! We got the older 2 home by 8:30 and everyone was in bed an hour later!!
TWO // FALL BREAK IN SAN DIEGO
Our boys were off school the first two weeks in October which is part of the reason I wasn’t blogging as much! We took off and made the 5 hour drive to San Diego to spend a few days at the beach.
The first 2 nights we stayed at Paradise Point on Mission Bay and the 3rd night we stayed on Coronado Island. I hadn’t visited the area since I was teenager, so it was amazing being back there with my own family!
We mainly hung at the resort [pool, beach, mini golf, watch tower, restaurants, smores in the firepit on the beach etc.] but did venture over to Sea World for a day [which was a mile from where we stayed].
The Dolphin show, penguin exhibit and alllll the rides filled our day! Our family favorite was the The Journey to Atlantis. The littlest wanted to go over and over again and of course, sit in the front row!!
We were absolutely soaked by the end of the day. But it was sunny and 90 degrees, so all was well!!
The last day & night we spent in Coronado. It was so gorgeous there! The sand shimmers with flecks of gold and the boys couldn’t get enough of the boogie boards!
After the day at the pool & beach, we had dinner at Bluewater Boathouse to celebrate T’s birthday.
Such a great trip! We’re already talking about the next one!
THREE // STYLE MY CLOSET CHALLENGE
Heather from Southern State of Mind and I did another Style My Closet Challenge, but it was a shortened 7 day series. Our main goal is to get up and get dressed everyday. Its so easy to stay in lounge or athleisure clothes all day whether you’re a SAHM or a WFHM. It feels so good to do your hair and makeup and then put on an actual outfit!
Here are my 7 looks…Of course I was still dealing with 100 degree temps in October, so I did my best to do “Fall style”!!
You can shop these pieces by clicking here.
FOUR // LET’S NOT SKIP THANKSGIVING
I’m sure you’ve been flooded with so much holiday this week and it might feel like a little much. As a content creator and influencer, it is tricky to find the balance between taking each season and holiday as it comes and being on the front-end of it for those who want to get a jump-start. My #1 goal is to always be a resource for you for how to dress, decorate and entertain!
While I want to make sure you have plenty of ideas for holiday style, tree ideas, recipes and more, I don’t want to skip our very next holiday – Thanksgiving!
You can check out my Full Thanksgiving Gallery here and then down below, I’ve got a few helpful posts you might to check out as well.
APPLE CIDER MOSCOW MULES
You can’t go wrong with anything apples and cinnamon this time of the year so why not in your cocktail?! I love making these on Halloween and Thanksgiving!
BAKED BRIE WITH BLUEBERRIES & BACON
5 MINUTE, 2 INGREDIENT APPETIZER
This is a winner every time and it actually only takes 30 second. I switch up the type of jam I use and if I don’t have boursin, then I substitute a block of cream cheese!
BACON STUFFED MUSHROOMS
Another crowd pleaser! These make a great app or a side dish!
FIVE // DECLARING THESE *THE* HOLIDAY EARRINGS!
I saw these darling earrings in store and passed them up and instantly had regret when I left the store. They were so simple, but so gorgeous. And only $8!! I did order them online this week, so I’ll share when they get here. They will be perfect with jeans and a blouse or with any holiday dress this season!
I’m in love with all things “bows” right now, so I’m sure I’ll be sharing more finds [like this sweater and these shoes]!
That’s it for today, but I’ll be back next week kicking off the start of the holiday season with recipes, gift guides and outfit ideas, so be sure to tune back in! You can always get a jumpstart on my ideas and recommendations by heading to my LTK shopping page. I always post there first!
