We made it — Day 12! The final day of our 12 Days of Back-to-School Prep series. We’ve covered the fridge, my yearly refresh list, my drop-off-to-gym outfit, breakfast burritos, washing the lunchboxes, backpack SOS kits, our snack bin, the homework drawer, school paper storage, prepping myself for the year, and peanut butter energy balls. Today we’re wrapping it all up with something that lives in my car all school year long: my SOS pouch!

We Basically Live in Our Cars
If you’re like me and feel like you live in your car these days — carpool line, practice pickups, errands in between — you need a little SOS pouch that’s always ready! Mine lives in my car all school year, stocked with stuff for both me and the kids, for whatever comes up. It’s saved me more times than I can count, and it’s genuinely one of my favorite things I put together for this entire series.
What’s Inside
Here’s exactly what’s tucked into mine — a darling little ruffle pouch that holds everything:
I wanted this pouch to cover both me and the kids, because the truth is, an SOS moment doesn’t care whose emergency it is. A headache, a wardrobe malfunction, a random scrape, feeling gross after a long practice, needing a breath mint before walking into a meeting straight from carpool — this pouch has genuinely covered it all. It’s small enough to tuck into a console or glove box, but stocked enough that I rarely find myself wishing I had something I don’t!
Basically Covers Every “Wait, Do I Have—” Moment
That’s really the whole point of this pouch. It’s for those moments where you think, “wait, do I have—” and then remember, yes, actually, it’s sitting right there in the car.
Between carpool lines, practices, and everything else that fills up a school-year calendar, having this ready to go has been one of the simplest, most useful things I’ve done all year.
