The Friday Five

What a week! We started back to virtual school on Monday and have done our best to get through each day. It’s a difficult transition for everyone, but the weekend is upon us and for that, I’m thankful. Today I’m back with The Friday Five!

THE FRIDAY FIVE

The place I share random tidbits from the week, recent finds, sale items, recipes and today, something on my heart.

1 // LET’S GET ORGANIZED!

Its that time of the year, when everyone is trying to get their life on track. Reset, refresh and recharge. Along with the new year, comes the urge to purge, too! Who else has spent some time trying to declutter and get organized!

I have a lot of work to do, but one of the first areas I’m going to hit is my bathroom vanity. I got the boys’ bathroom vanity set-up from the start [see the 5 step process here] which is absolutely the way to go.

How to organize your bathroom vanity - drawer liners and drawer organizers - This is our Bliss

Don’t overthink it, just start. We’ve been in our house for 4.5 years and am just now getting a hold on my own bathroom, but at least it will be done soon!

The first thing I’ll do is empty everything out, vacuum inside, wipe it down and go from there. I actually think I have some contact paper leftover from the boys’ bathroom!

I ordered these items to get me started:

And I plan on using these organizers again in the drawers.

I’ll check back after I make some progress! What areas are you refreshing?

2 // RECENTLY BINGED

2020 was definitely a year of TV ha! With so much time at home, we dove in to a ton of shows and got hooked! We continued to unwind and relax in front of the TV together each night over Winter Break and crossed a few must-watch shows off our list!

  • Succession
  • The Morning Show
  • Money Heist [currently in season 3 of 4]

Maybe I’ll write another post on some of our favorites from the 2nd half of 2020 instead of constantly editing the original post! Now if I can just get back in the swing of reading at night, I could get through my book list!

3 // LOUNGEWEAR FAVORITES

Target Loungewear Try-on Haul - This is our Bliss

I shared a huge cozy Target Haul on the blog this week and am completely smitten with so many newly released pieces! A few favorites were this snakeprint top & bottom, this black ribbed hoodie & joggers and these wide-leg lounge pants!

This 1/2 zip camo pullover was a top seller last week and I’m really digging these croc leggings I found for $14.

You can see the entire Target Try-on with 10+ pieces here!

4 // CRAVING COMFORT FOOD

I’m getting ready to start another 8 week health & fitness challenge next Monday where I’ll be tracking my macros, drinking 100 ounces of water and moving my body at least 30-60 minutes per day. I’ve already started to reel in my eating and drink habits over the last week, but I came across this recipe for Chicken Pot Pie soup and now it’s all I can think about! The challenge officially starts on Monday, so I’m thinking a bowl of this soup might be in order this weekend. Although the challenge really isn’t too restricting. You make choices based on the macros you need to hit and if you want to work a certain meal or food item into your day, you just take note of the meal early in the day so you know what you have leftover.

I’ll go into more detail in a future post, but like a lot of others, I’m ready to reset my body and get some of the excess holiday off!

5 // LIFE IS PRECIOUS, LIFE IS SHORT & TOMORROW IS NEVER PROMISED.

My heart has been heavy all week for our country, but especially because of a loss in our family. Ted’s cousin was in a tragic accident and yesterday, we received the news that she didn’t make it. Her injuries were too severe. She is no longer in pain and heaven absolutely gained another angel. She was a sweet, smart and spunky young woman with her whole life ahead of her. She and her twin brother just celebrated their 25th birthdays right before Christmas, so to say his family is experiencing unimaginable heartbreak and absolute devastation is an understatement.

A couple Summers ago, she stayed with us while she worked an internship nearby. She loved our boys like crazy and we all will cherish those special months with her.

I’ve never wanted to hold my kids and never let go as much as I do right now.

life is precious life is short and tomorrow is never promised - This is our Bliss

Hug your loved ones and don’t take a single moment for granted.

Hang in there, everyone. I know this week was an emotional one for all of us as Americans. Try to stay positive, take a break from the news if you need and love on your family every chance you get.

xoxo
