The Friday Five

Hello out there! Our favorite day of the week is finally here! Week 2 of elearning is almost in the books and I’m feeling like we’ve found our groove – thank goodness! Today, I’m here with The Friday Five where I share random tidbits from throughout the week, sale finds, decor inspiration, recipes and more!

I’m so happy you’re here to join me.

If you’ve missed any of the posts in the Friday Five Series, you can get caught up here!

THE FRIDAY FIVE

Before we get started, let’s take a moment to pause in memory of the lives lost on 9/11 nineteen years ago. It’s hard to believe those tragedies took place almost 2 decades ago.

ONE || THE WEEK OF TARGET!

I kicked off the week of Target with some Fall Home decor finds and ended with a 2 part Target Try-on Haul. Target was the number one most requested retailer, so I wanted to deliver – in both home decor and style!

Target BROUGHT IT this season!

Don’t you agree?!

Stripes, leopard print, & puffed sleeves, OH MY! This describes a ton of the Target pieces I shared darling 3/4 sleeve sweatshirts, distressed denim, fun pant options, striped sweaters and cardigans, the best basic $8 tank and so much more. I put together 20+ outfits for Fall and I can’t wait to see [and share] what the top sellers end up being for the week.

I’m so happy you all are loving these affordable Target finds as much as I am!

TWO || 9/11: NEVER FORGET

NYC skyline at Night - This is our Bliss

The world is a crazy place right now and it’s been a challenging and emotional year for so many. I can’t help but think back on this day 19 years ago , when our country was truly hurting. The horrifying videos and images that replay around this time each year really weigh heavy on me, but it is a reminder that while everything felt raw and ugly then, we overcame the pain, hurt, fear and destruction and are stronger because of it.

I have no doubt that we, our children included, are going to come out of this unique time with a better attitude and appreciation for the little things in life, as well as so many of the luxuries we oftentimes take for granted.

I can vividly remember that morning. We had been in Arizona for my aunt’s wedding and were flying home on September 11th. My Grandpa dropped us off at the airport, we got through security and were getting ready to board the plane when they closed the gate and told us the airport was shutting down. It wasn’t until my Grandpa came back to pick us up that we learned about the Twin Towers. Airports around the country were doing a hard and fast lockdown and the planes in the skies were all being grounded. We went back and sat glued to the TV for what felt like days before we ended up renting a car and making the 24 hour drive back to Iowa since there were no flights being booked for the foreseeable future. I was a Junior in High School.

September 11th is a day we will never forget. And today, I’ll be reflecting back on the lives lost and sacrifices made.

THREE || THE PRETTIEST NEUTRAL EYE PALETTE [ON A BUDGET]

This week, I happened to be at Target, ahem, a few times and after grabbing some cotton rounds, I wandered over to the makeup. I spotted the most gorgeous little eye palettes for $7.99. I grabbed the City Mini in Rooftop Bronzes and the colors are stunning. The perfect shimmery gold tones for Fall.

My current eye palette is quite large making it annoying to travel with and the colors are more in the peachy, coppery family, so I’d been on the hunt some gold hues but didn’t want to splurge on a $50 palette like I normally would. I do love Tarte, Urban Decay & Smashbox palettes but they are much pricier.

This mini palette is easy on the pocket book and easily slips right into my makeup bag. The Chill Brunch Neutrals palette is in my cart right now. Love them both!

FOUR || CURRENTLY WATCHING & READING

I’m happy to report I’ve read several books in the last couple of months. Who knew I’d be reading so much?!

After finishing this book, I read the second book in the trilogy, then 28 Summers and just started Truly Madly Guilty last week. Liane Moriarity wrote Big Little Lies, which I loved, so I’m excited to dive further into this one. I was definitely on an Elin Hilderbrand kick this Summer, so can’t wait to pick up the 3rd book in the Paradise series when it comes out next month!

We’ve plowed through a ton of shows this year while at home and right now we’re in the middle of a couple. We started Handmaid’s Tale and mid-way through season 2, we decided to take a mini break and start Yellowstone.

Do you ever hop around or do you binge until you’re done?!

Love it so far!

We’re a couple episodes into Season 3, so back to Handmaid’s we’ll go shortly. After that, we’re pretty dead-set on starting The Wire, so I’ll keep you posted on how we like it.

You can see my List of Bingeworthy Shows here – need to update it with a few more we’ve crossed off our list! Or maybe I’ll share a new post? I can’t wait to start watching shows by the fire at night. I live for fireplace season!!!

FIVE || STUNNING FRONT PORCH PLANTER INSPO FOR FALL

After this week of chilly temps and dreary skies, I’m ready to fully embrace the Fall season. I’ve busted out the sweaters and booties, so I’m ready to pull out the Fall decor now, too!

I’ll be sharing my Fall mantel next week and updating my Front Porch soon after.

I’m feeling incredibly inspired to do something other than mums in my planters and am totally digging the vibes of this gorgeous arrangement by On Sutton Place.

Ann comes up with the most stunning ideas for her planters each season, you’ll have to check her out!

And that’s all for today!

I have another packed week on the blog next week and I’m holding myself accountable to getting busy on the basement for the $100 Room Challenge! Painting projects will start on Monday. I should have an update ready on Tuesday and then my Fall mantel will be on the blog on Wednesday, with lots of fun posts before and after!!

I snuck away to my parents’ house for a fun project and will be sharing more on that soon.

Gosh, I sure hope the weather shapes up in the Midwest. I said I was embracing Fall, but I’m not quite ready for 50 degree weather from here on out!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you back here soon!
